Grindery is joining Binance Labs S4 Incubation

In the early 90s, I was chillin out, maxin, relaxin all cool with my partner, Alberto, both of us barefoot in our first office, and we got really excited listening to the sound of dial up and the greeting of “You’ve Got Mail.” This may be the ultimate death of the fax machine and many other things, we thought back then. Frankly, it has been nearly 30 years since I have had that feeling in the pit of my stomach – that we are on the cusp of something big.

And a few years back, that feeling returned with blockchain technology. The reason is that web3 provides us not only the opportunity to further work on the "future of work," (as we have done, hands-on, in InboundLab.co since 2012), but to diminish the power of traditional banks (no pun intended, Philip Banks!), wrestle our lives back from the Alphabet-Meta-Amazon overlords and hopefully lift billions out of unnecessary poverty.

2021 brought excitement akin to the amelioration of dial-up-to-DSL. We made significant strides forward in the realm of what we stand for: making the future of work easy, accessible, and unbound by geographies, governments, or other biases. We secured support and grants from Harmony, Near and Algorand, and had the opportunity to talk to many community members over the last few months about the potential opportunities made possible by the blockchain.

As a result, today on InboundLabs’ 10th anniversary, we are leaping forward: we are joining Binance, in its 4th incubation season, in which Grindery was selected as one of over 500 projects globally. With the wind of Binance at our back, we will develop faster, hope to get access to the right people, and move to the front lines of this technological, cultural and economic revolution. 

We understand that the participation of VCs in web3 projects is controversial. We have done our due diligence and have received raving support for the Binance Labs team and its program. We come from a background of building products and start-ups and we believe that in early stages of projects,  heads-down focus on product development is essential to achieving escape velocity.

Our plan is to make sure that our technology gradually transitions into the hands of the public and is put to use for the common good. We are optimists, and beyond the inherent financial interest, we see it as our realistic responsibility to build the better - not the darker - version of web3. 

We are looking forward to several weeks of kick-ass mentors, getting to know (and learn from) our incubator-mates and doing a kick-ass presentation on the Demo Day in a few weeks.

Where we go from there, only time will tell, but we are off to a good start. Again.
